Marina Smetanina

Our parishioner, Marina Smetanina, has been in Russia for several months. Marina is an iconographer and has been painting icons for the iconostasis and for use in a new church. The new church is named for Seraphim of Sarov. It is located in the far, western corner of the Moscow region in a small, poor village. The village never had a temple for worship although the people dreamed that one day, they would have their own temple. Twice construction was begun on a wooden temple and twice, robbers burnt the building. With God's help, the people began to build a stone Temple. Although construction work is still ongoing, services are already in its third year.

Marina has sent some pictures of her work and of the church. She thinks she will finish the icons in the next year. Then she will embark on painting ornaments on ancient patterns of the wooden frame of iconostasis.

Please keep Marina and the parish of the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in your prayers!
